At this point, many car owners would have been in apathy about the whole situation. They would have given up, and perhaps traded in their defective vehicle for a new car.¹⁹ Mr. and Mrs. Jones did not give up. They did not go away. They retained a lemon law attorney.

When you give up and go away, you provide the manufacturer with the incentive to continue their policy of deception and delay.

A Summary of New Car Misery

The vehicle was defective from the moment the Joneses picked it up.
They offered the vehicle repeatedly to the dealerships for repair.
They got only three repair orders; they should have had six.
There was a serious safety defect that never got repaired.
The vehicle was in the shop for more than thirty days.
They were given false and misleading information.
