Auto Manufacturers Declaration of Your "Rights" Under California's Lemon Law

Posted By Norman Taylor & Associates || 22-Aug-2008

1. You have the “right” to permit our dealer to “fix your head” instead of your car, so you never come back again.

2. You have the “right” to accept the explanation of “no problem found” after our dealership drove your new car around the block in a feigned effort to discover what was wrong.

3. You have the “right” to completely waste your time returning your vehicle time and time again for the same problem(s) we cannot or will not fix.

4. You have the “right” to blindly accept misinformation on what your “lemon law” rights are from our dealerships or our 800 lines or arbitration boards.

5. You have the “right” to believe that after 18 months or 18,000 miles, you have no rights under the “lemon law”.

6. You have the “right” to assume that because your warranty has expired and our dealers haven’t repaired your defects, you are out of luck.

7. You have the “right” to waste the substantial investment in your vehicle and learn to “cope”" with your problem.

8. You have the “right” to accept that you are stuck with a vehicle you wouldn’t sell to your worst enemy because you have a conscience.

9. You have the “right” to accept our dealership’s explanation of “we don’t build them, we just sell them,” so please go away.

10. You have the “right” to believe to believe that we are actually making a “goodwill” offer or “trade assist” for you, all the while asserting you actually have no rights under the law.

11. You have the “right” to believe that “we designed the vehicle to run like that”, when in fact it is a defect we cannot repair.

12. You have the “right” to believe that “we fixed all the problems we could find.”

13. You have the “right” to believe “we can’t duplicate your problem”, which really means that our dealer didn’t try to find the problem because we don’t pay them very much to perform warranty repairs on our behalf.

14. You have the “right” to believe that “engineering is working on your problem and we will contact you when we have a fix for it.”

15. You have the “right” to feel small and never return after our dealer representative laughs in your face, or becomes indignant because you complain that this is the 5th time you’ve had your vehicle in the shop for the same problem.

16. You have the “right” to believe that you must go through arbitration before pursuing your “lemon law” rights against us.

17. You have the “right” to believe that you are going to neutral and objective forum, and that the law will actually be followed when submitting to our arbitration program.

18. You have the “right” to believe that we actually care more about customer satisfaction than we do this quarter’s shareholder report.

19. You have the “right” to believe that we actually care about anything other than profit.

20. You have the “right” to be apathetic and do noting, OR you can contact NORMAN TAYLOR & ASSOCIATES
